Finding things
The search box sits at the top of every page. Click it, or press ⌘ K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows, from anywhere in Bottle.
Start typing. After two letters Bottle shows what matches, best first, in groups: customers together, orders together, and so on. Press ↑ and ↓ to move, Enter to open, and Esc to close. A click works too.

Every word you type has to match somewhere, so kingston bar finds Kingston
Fish Bar but not Kingston Arms. The words can be in any order, and in any of a
record’s details: smith KT1 finds the Smith whose door is in KT1.
A small slip still finds the right thing. Kingstom finds Kingston, as long as
the word is four letters or more.
Archived customers, products and vehicles are still found, below everything else, marked Archived.
What opens
Section titled “What opens”Choosing a result takes you to the page that shows it:
- A customer or a delivery address opens the customer.
- An order opens the order.
- An invoice opens on the Invoices page.
- A product opens ready to change.
- A vehicle or base opens ready to change, on Vehicles and bases.
- A person is picked out on the People page.
Recent
Section titled “Recent”When you open the search box without typing, it shows the last few things you opened from it. They are kept in this browser only, separately for each business. Clear forgets them.
Who finds what
Section titled “Who finds what”Search only finds what you could already see. A driver finds pages they can open and the products they sell from the van, but not the customer book, invoices or who else works here. The same goes for API keys and connected assistants: they find only the kinds of record their permissions let them read. See For developers for the details.
